Ever since we started lighting Main Street with our talismanic sign, we've received a lot of questions regarding it's significance and why we chose to use a skull, of all things, to advertise in our front window.
The idea was to use a sigil with superstitious meaning to ward away evil. Now, we don't subscribe to astrology or magic; we just thought it was an interesting way to add creativity to the downtown scene. We liked the idea of stepping outside our typical brand identity to create something unique and thought-provoking, something that would inspire thought and make the passerby wonder.
Honestly, our talismanic sign design has less to do with superstition or any magical significance as it does with pure design. We like bold, high contrast design. The vertical symmetry serves as a provocative focal point for the elements we wanted to present in this design.
So, keep an eye out. We'll be lighting the dark from our perch above Main Street. Regardless of the intent, maybe our sign will even help keep the evils of ennui away by cheering you up!
